Our Year in Review
December 23, 2021
We’re exceptionally grateful for our network of outstanding researchers, physicians, collaborators, and supporters that drive scientific discovery and spur transformative change in the single ventricle space. It’s incredible to reflect on all we’ve accomplished together as a community – and we’re just getting started.
2021 was a big year for us, and a big one for the world. We’ve made tremendous progress during a year that brought so many challenges— both professional and personal—for everyone. Our impact in 2021 is a tribute to the passionate community of scientists, engineers, and clinicians from around the world who have dedicated their time and resources to addressing the challenges and unknowns in single ventricle heart disease research and care.
From the development of our Research Roadmap and launch of our Research Awards Programs, to the inception of our Cures Collaborative and establishment of Project Singular, it’s incredible to look back on all we’ve accomplished together as a community. Here are just a few highlights from the past year:
-
- Funded 64 studies to build resources and advance understanding of single ventricle etiology, outcomes, care, and cures.
- Committed an impressive $26.5M in funding for research and infrastructure development within the single ventricle space.
- Convened a first-of-its-kind meeting for over 300 multidisciplinary investigators dedicated to single ventricle science and care.
- Engaged with new scientific fields and expanded the single ventricle network.
And we’re just getting started.
In our next year, we will deepen our commitments to single ventricle communities through new programs and initiatives to serve patients and families, grow depth and breadth in our research community, and support collaboration and connection, holistically and sustainably. We’re honored to support these exceptional communities and catalyze scientific discovery toward a functional cure for single ventricle. Thank you to our research partners and collaborators for the important work that you do!
